Terry Scott with HealthMarkets (Duluth MN/Superior WI) talks Insurance

WHO IS THIS GUY (Terry L Scott) AND
WHY SHOULD HE BE YOUR INSURANCE PROFESSIONAL?

Q. How would you answer that question?

A. With a question. If you were going to have brain surgery done, you would want the best doctor doing the surgery right? Just as if you are the best in your field, such as real estate, plumbing, teaching or doctoring, I would want you and you service. So my question is, why “settle for” less than the best when it comes to your money, your future well-being of yourself and your family? You can have the best; I’m the best.

Q. That’s quite a statement, can you back it up?

A. (Chuckle) Sure; I’ll try. I know that sounds a bit conceited and boastful but I truly am the best, and every day I get up early to continue to stay on top of things and remain “the best”. Am I saying that I know it all, that someone else can’t offer similar products, or that I don’t make mistakes? No. However, I know my passion is to help others and to do right by them and for them. Insurance can be confusing so I’ve taken the training and obtained the license to be an agent, but I do more. I do my own continual learning so I continue “being” the best. Also, I surround myself with other professionals, who are also “the best”, if I don’t have the answer, I get it.

Q. How did you get started in the industry?

A. Over 10 years ago I worked for a couple of insurance companies and I got turned off because it was more about the agent making the sale and not about helping the client; at least that’s what I got out of it. I let my license lapse thinking that I would never, ever, do that again. Then “life happened”.

Q. What do you mean?

A. I had a close friend whose mother had retired and had a condition and she certainly would have been made more comfortable if she had some things (insurance wise) in place. She went through all of her savings, and everything had to go to her end of life needs when she could have used more money and options during this time.
Also, in other cases, I saw how those turning 65 really need help in making insurance choices.

Q. Choices?

A. Yes, many people think that when they turn 65 that everything is “taken care of” but it’s like going back to school again. They get numerous phone calls from agents every day. They get bombarded with mail from Medicare and all of the insurance companies who want to help. This goes on for months. It’s overwhelming and confusing. And it’s scary; making the wrong choice during this window of enrollment can adversely affect the rest of one’s life in how and what they can do.

Q. So you got into the industry years ago, got out, had these recent experiences and…

A. Yes, I got back involved with insurance. Either the industry changed (which I know it has) or I have, or both. I was working full time but would get up very early every morning and took hours and hours of tests online. When I was done and thinking that I was “finished” another module and test would “appear”; it seemed to go on forever! But I was determined to continue. I passed and obtained my license in Life and Health for both Wisconsin and Minnesota. (I definitely will keep renewing them because I don’t ever want to start from scratch again!)

Terry Scott is an Agent and Broker for ACA as shown above.

Q. What would you want the “person on the street” to know about insurance?

A. There is an organization called LIMRA which offers statistics concerning insurance. A few things that stand out to me is that most people think insurance costs about 3 times more than it actually does, and more people would buy insurance if someone approached them! Plus, I’d like to let everyone know too that there are laws and regulations that safeguard and protect the consumer of insurance products so there is no real reason why someone should be apprehensive to sit down and visit with an insurance professional to get an assessment (picture) of their situation. Believe me, with all it takes to get licensed and with all of the laws that protect the consumer, agents are very, very careful to do what’s right for the consumer!

Q. Anything else that you’d like to add?

A. In my time as an agent, I’ve been privileged to work with several companies and have seen how most operate. There is probably not a bad company out there. I think most agents and the companies they represent have the consumer’s best interest in mind. However, I know that I’m in the right place and I’m glad now to represent HealthMarkets. It offers many products from many different companies so I am not biased to any one, and can really create the right customized and affordable “corporate style” benefits package for a client using products from any of these fine companies; I like that.

Health Insurance Innovations, Inc. Announces ACA Supplement -- Deductible and Gap Protection Plans to Help Americans With High Deductible Health Plans

TAMPA, Fla.Dec. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Health Insurance Innovations, Inc., "HII" (Nasdaq:HIIQ), a leading developer and virtual administrator of affordable health insurance plans, ancillary products, and research-driven consumer health insurance plan shopping tools, today announced the launch of ACA Supplement Deductible and Gap Protection Plans to help customers with accident expenses their ACA metal plans may not cover until full deductibles are met, as well as healthcare services not included in ACA coverage.
Across the nation, Americans are choosing individual and family health plan coverage for 2015. Many are choosing on-exchange Bronze and Silver plans. These plans could leave some families responsible for as much as $13,200 in out-of-pocket expenses according to the Healthcare.gov website.
"Many of the people who choose these Bronze and Silver plans are not in a financial position to absorb large out-of-pocket expenses. They may need access to care well before they've met their deductibles and could simply choose to remain untreated. That is why these deductible and gap protection plans are so important," explained Mike Kosloske, CEO of Health Insurance Innovations.
HII's ACA Supplement Deductible and Gap Protection Plans were developed as a supplement to ACA health plans, not as a primary health plan. Alongside enhanced out-of-pocket protections in the case of accidents, these plans include coverage for several categories of medical expenses often not covered in ACA plans including adult dental and vision care, chiropractic care, as well as 24/7 access to U.S. board-certified physicians who can help resolve medical issues via phone.
The ACA Supplement Deductible and Gap Protection Plans can be purchased now from the over sixteen thousand licensed insurance agents who are part of the Health Insurance Innovations distributor network at hiiquote.com.
About Health Insurance Innovations, Inc.
Health Insurance Innovations, Inc. (HII) develops affordable, high-quality health insurance products through partnerships with best-in-class insurance carriers, distributed through licensed insurance agents as plan configurations customized for the individual consumer. These transactions take place via the industry's first virtual administrator, an entirely cloud-based proprietary process —Quote-Buy-Print— providing proof-of-coverage to insured in minutes rather than weeks. HII is a data-driven digital business informed by its consumer division. HII's consumer division includes HealthPocket.com's Research & Databusiness, the largest repository (of any kind) of health insurance information and HealthPocket.com, the only online resource that offers consumers one-click access to unbiased rankings of all available health-insurance plans. Life insurance at rates 70% off in Superior Wisconsin

Well, kind of.

According to LIMRA (LIMRA is an association that provides research, consulting, and other services to insurance and financial services companies, worldwide). The most commonly cited reason for NOT purchasing life insurance, or more, is that people (63%) think that it is too expensive. But here’s the kicker. According to LIMRA’s recent Life Happens study, consumers overestimate the cost of life insurance by nearly three-fold!

Since I've been in the insurance business now for awhile, I have built my business on referrals because people like what I have to offer and my style of offering it I guess. But everyday I'm still on the phones, and meeting people face to face, letting them know that I can help them because most people aren't experts with insurance. Hopefully they are experts in what they do every day, like truck driving, roofing, doctoring, selling, etc. But because insurance is usually "out of sight and out of mind" until they need it or see someone else you does, I'm glad to make my self available. It's statistics like this one that tells me that people want and need my products!

Using LIMRA's statistic, take what you think life insurance will cost, minus 70% from that, and contact an agent (me or someone else who is knowledgeable) to get the facts… and protection you need for your family. You'll be pleasantly surprised how affordable it truly is!

Make it a great day!

Terry Scott, Health Markets Insurance Agent - Superior, Spooner, Ashland, and Hayward Wisconsin Areas

I have been recently appointed with Health Markets and will help you through the maze of questions with the Affordable Health Care act, the HealthCare.gov site and more... all free! I am licensed in both MN and WI but at present I'm concentrating all my efforts in the state of Wisconsin.

Companies are ditching their healthcare for their employees, you need to know your options. You need to know what time of the year you need to get all of this completed ("open enrollment" is right now!)

Everyone needs to buy health insurance or get fined a penalty; yes that is right and this penalty doubles next year and is even greater the following year. But there is more to all of this. Let me answer your questions so you do things right.

Here's a video that you may appreciate CLICK HERE.

Terry Scott Insurance Agent comments on Obama Care Surprise Number (?)

These are a few of my comments on the Yahoo article:

Taxes are bad enough when you know they’re coming—and much worse when they arrive unexpectedly.
As the Affordable Care Act enters its second year of operability, a key and controversial element of the plan will begin to affect several million Americans for the first time. People who didn’t have health insurance during 2014 may soon have to pay a penalty fee that starts at $95 and goes up...
Yes; it’s true and there is more to come.

As an insurance agent licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin, I walk my clients through their maze of questions. I must remain “impartial” to the Affordable Care Act with my main intent being that in helping my clients do what they can to protect themselves and their families within this framework.

Everyone’s situation is different and I’m getting phone calls everyday and am very busy seeing clients. If you are in Minnesota or Wisconsin, visit my website: www.HealthMarkets.com/Terry.Scott and I’ll be glad to answer any of your questions. If you reside in any other state, let me know and I’ll refer you to a colleague in your area as there are certain variations in each state.

Please know too that anything that I state here in this blog is my opinion and not that of HealthMarkets.

Make it a great day.

Be careful to get the MA type plan that you want and need; some come with a drug plan and some do not...

This blog is a courtesy and service to my insurance clients in MN/WI but also includes generic information for people in other states; everyone is welcome here and your comments and questions are welcome too. If you reside in a state other than MN/WI and would like to know of a reputable agent in your area, ask me and if I can refer someone, I will.
…………………………………..

Today I want to share something from the insurance news.

Per United Health Care (UHC). a number of their consumers are being enrolled into UnitedHealthcare Essential plans that are Medicare Advantage (“MA”) only and do not include drug coverage.  However, customers believe they have drug coverage and attempt to fill a prescription.  Once they discover the plan does not have drug coverage they consequently, submit a complaint to CMS.

Important Reminders:

The UnitedHealthcare plans that typically do not include drug coverage have the term “Essentials” in the product brand name such as the following.

o   AARP MedicareComplete Choice Essential

o   AARP MedicareComplete Essential

o   AARP MedicareComplete Plus Essential

o   UnitedHealthcare MedicareDirect Essential

These plans are great plans, but as a consumer, just be aware of what plan you are enrolling in. If you want a separate plan for drugs or to combine a drug plan, either way may suit your needs.

·         Always check the benefit information included in the plan Enrollment Guide for final confirmation of whether drug coverage is included or not.

·         Always ask to see which plans available for in a particular market (market meaning your age, and geographical area.

.
By the way, this is a common thing to watch for regardless of which company you choose to be insured by. UHC is just being proactive here.

Get the Family Forever Facts Record System at no cost.

As and insurance professional I have to deal with lots of paperwork so I'm constantly devising ways to make finding the facts I need faster and easier. When I'm in client's homes, I see that I'm not the "Lone Ranger", many others have the same need for having facts close at their fingertips or at least on the computer.

That's why I'm in the process of creating the Family Forever Facts System and I want to send you the very first form of the 50 plus collection of forms at no cost. Please read on.

Family Forever Facts ® is a complete record system for readily accessible facts when you need them. From this compilation of over 50 forms, I want you to have the first form free.

It’s a simple but practical Family Contacts List created in Excel for recording your family contacts. I will email it to you at no charge. It’s the very first form in a complete collection called: Family Forever Facts.

The system has over 50 forms, created with Excel, so you can easily change them to suit your situation perfectly. We’ve done all the work for you so you can tweak it a bit to suit your specific needs by removing some things and adding others.

Imagine having the facts you need at your fingertips (or at least on your computer) that pertain to everything about your family. Now you can this entire ultimate organizer, of over 50 necessary forms, priced at $99, absolutely free.

Reader, how would you like this complete system for absolutely free, instead of paying the regular price of $99?

Here’s how. Help me build it.

I’m currently creating each of these 50 forms in Excel and emailing each to readers who will critique it and help make it better before it gets published in the complete system.

It’s simple to do. Just go to www.terscott.com/contact and complete the form stating that you want to help critique the forms for the Family Forever Facts Organizer. You’ll receive one about every one to two weeks. Look at it, create any changes you think would make it better, and email it back.

You may be reading this at the beginning of this project with form 2 or 3 being created or when we are closer to the end as we finish with 49 and 50. No worries. As long as you’ve helped with at least 15 of the forms, you’ll get all of them at no charge when the project is completed.

To get the first form: Family Contacts List, just visit: www.terscott.com/contact and request it. If you are one who would like to assist in the critiquing and building of this complete set, mention your interest in the message box.

Make it a great day!

Can a DISCOUNT HEALTH PLAN be better than insurance? In many cases the answer is "yes".

My motivation for taking all of the tests and exams to become and maintain my status as an insurance agent is to help other people. I know that for some readers, you may be saying something like: "Yeah, right you are in it for the money". For those the think this, I'd like to remind you that money is becoming less a commodity in most professions and the insurance industry is no exception. Sure, I make part of my living by selling insurance but I think you'll agree that if no one liked me or what I offer, I would not have many customers.

But today, I'm not talking about insurance but I am talking about how you can save on health care such as dental, doctor visits, chiropractic, and all of that and it is not insurance; it's a Discount Savings plan.

I became a distributor for Ameriplan ® some time ago so I could offer an alternative to my customers who might not be able to qualify or afford the insurance programs I offered. And Ameriplan has some cool things for its members that you won't see in most insurance plans; like no waiting periods!

There's a lot more but I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Check out this site by clicking on the image shown here. Watch a short 8 minute video and if you want to learn how to save money on all of your health care, click on the "I WANT TO SAVE MONEY NOW" or if not interested, I'll give you a free gift ($100 value) just for your 8 minutes of time; sound fair?

Some of you would like to earn a full time income working part time as a professional working on my team. If you think you may qualify, give me a thumbs up by clicking "I WANT TO MAKE MONEY NOW", complete the form and I'll get back to you within 24 hours. (You don't need to be an insurance agent to be considered).

Learn: What Kind of Insurance Do I Need?

Hello all. Thanks for visiting. I created this blog as a communication tool for anyone who needs straight forward answers to their life matters in the area of insurance. I will tell you first off that I am not an “expert” but I am a person who will get the answer for you if I don’t have it.

I’m a person first, and an agent second. What I mean by this is , well let me explain. I did sell insurance about 15, 20 years ago (I don’t want to count how fast those years have gone by right this moment) and I let my insurance license lapse because my experience was so “horrible” that I told myself I would never need it because I would never want to do that again! I’m not sure if it was just me, but it seemed that the several companies that I worked for were more concerned about making sales than it was in helping people.  I might as well be selling cars or anything else.

Now I’m older and have seen how people are literally “clueless” about things like entering Medicare, leaving a legacy, debt cleanup, having money to live on after retirement and more. I’m not blaming them, they’ve spent their lives being an “expert” in whatever it was that they did for a living and now they are expected to be their own retirement planner expert. When one turns 65, he and she have to make some quick and tough decisions within a window of time that affects the rest of their lives.

Spending most of my life as a teacher and trainer, after seeing friend’s parents and others go through these stages with and without guidance I was prompted to re enter the profession again. This meant going through all of the training again, the investment of time, money and brain cells to become qualified to sit at someone’s kitchen table (in person or now via your computer) and discuss these matters.

When I call people who are turning 65, some people are truly afraid of sales people, and insurance agents, and they become “paralyzed” and put off doing something until the last minute or they go with the first thing that comes along just to “get it over with” and they feel better. They do not know that they really have nothing to worry about. My thought is that when someone is 64, he or she should be proactive and should seek out 10 or more insurance agents and “get educated”. Even at 65 (or any time in life) one should be without any fear of any insurance agent because the laws are on the side of the insured. There are all kinds of “safeguards” for the insured. One can not be forced in to any contract, they have a “free look” period, and no agent wants to sit in front of the Commissioner of Insurance and explain their bad behavior and lose their license they worked so hard to attain. That is why I created this blog, so my readers can come here and get answers, knowing that I can’t sell them anything (unless they live within a practical distance of my residence in Minnesota, Wisconsin or Michigan) and that they sincerely want to be “sold” and of course “need” it.

So readers, ask me your questions and I will get you the answers. I hold licenses in Health and Life so I deal with Life Insurance (for all ages) and especially those entering retirement.
