Is there such a thing as ‘glasses insurance’?

If you’ve recently discovered you need glasses, you know it’s time to start budgeting for them. Glasses can cost hundreds of dollars out-of-pocket, and they may need to be updated each year! But don’t let yourself get too stressed. There is a product that can help you cover the cost. Just don’t call it ‘glasses insurance.’

Technically, there is no official product known as ‘glasses insurance.’ However, that doesn’t meanthere isn’t a product that covers glasses. This product is known as vision insurance.

What is vision insurance?

Vision insurance is a supplemental health insurance product. Think of dental insurance and vision insurance as members of the same family. They cover services that are not usually covered by standard health insurance plans.
Vision insurance covers more than glasses. Many vision plans also cover:
  • Regular eye exams with an optometrist
  • Corrective contact lenses (in place of glasses)

Obamacare Re-enrollments for 2016; the facts are here.

Were you AUTOMATICALLY entered in the "auto renew" for this year's Obamacare? If you did not intentionally check the box to "opt out" your plan may be "auto-renewed". That may be "just fine" if you are happy with everything in your plan this year, your plan still exists, and you don't want to make any changes.

Here's an informative article which will enlighten you to the facts if you care to read it. CLICK HERE.

My suggestion is to let us help you in your re-enrollment this year (and following); our service is FREE and we'll be sure to do things right so you'll get the peace of mind in knowing that you won't be getting any penalties.

We're filling our schedule now for the days in November to assist you over the phone and Internet to enroll in the ACA. (After we have our roster filled, we will gladly refer you to a "navigator" in your area). Call now to schedule your appointment: 888-241-4031.
Important dates for 2016 enrollment:
  • November 1, 2015: Open Enrollment starts — first day you can enroll in a 2016 Marketplace plan
  • January 1, 2016: First date 2016 coverage can start
  • January 31, 2016: 2016 Open Enrollment ends
If you don’t enroll in a 2016 plan by January 31, 2016, you can’t enroll in a health insurance plan for 2016 unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

"Life events" that (generally) qualify for a special enrollment period (SEP) with Obamacare

This information was gleaned from healthcare.gov. Navigating through the ACA (sometimes called Obamacare) can be very confusing. That's why we offer our clients (and prospective clients) our assistance free or we can refer you to a "Navigator" in your area. Call us at: 888-241-4031 or CLICK HERE to go to our site.
The following life events will generally qualify you for a special enrollment period:
  • You signed up for the marketplace, but you were unable to complete the enrollment process for any reason (until mid-April 2014)
  • Getting married
  • Birth, adoption, or placement of a child
  • Permanently moving to a new area that offers different health plan options
  • Losing other health coverage (including job loss for any reason, divorce, loss of eligibility for Medicaid or CHIP, expiration of COBRA coverage, aging of a parents plan, or a health plan being decertified). Note: loss of coverage does not include voluntarily quitting other health coverage or being terminated for not paying your premiums. Losing coverage that is not minimum essential coverage also fails to qualify as loss of coverage.
  • For people already enrolled in Marketplace coverage, having a change in income or household status that affects eligibility for tax credits or cost-sharing reductions
  • An individual who was not previously a citizen, national, or lawfully present individual gains such status.
  • A qualified individual’s enrollment or non-enrollment in a QHP is unintentional, inadvertent, or erroneous and is the result of the error, misrepresentation, or inaction of an officer, employee, or agent of the Exchange, HHS, or its instrumentalities as evaluated and determined by the Exchange.
  • An enrollee adequately demonstrates to the Exchange that the QHP in which he or she is enrolled substantially violated a material provision of its contract in relation to the enrollee.
  • An individual is determined to be newly eligible or newly ineligible for advance payments of the premium tax credit or has a change in eligibility for cost-sharing reductions, regardless of whether such individual is already enrolled in a QHP. The Exchange must permit individuals whose existing coverage through an eligible employer-sponsored plan will no longer be affordable or provide minimum value for his or her employer’s upcoming plan year to access this special enrollment period prior to the end of his or her coverage through such an eligible employer-sponsored plan.
  • An Indian, as defined by section 4 of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, may enroll in a QHP or change from one QHP to another one time per month.
  • A qualified individual or enrollee demonstrates to the Exchange, in accordance with guidelines issued by HHS, that the individual meets other exceptional circumstances as the Exchange may provide.

CRITICAL DEADLINES for Open Enrollment period for Obamacare health insurance 2016 in Duluth MN/Superior WI.

Open enrollment will be upon us soon! Schedule an appointment to get (FREE) help from our office so you won't be "standing in line", "waiting until the last minute",  and perhaps miss the deadlines! We are taking appointments to speak and enroll you by phone and Internet during the open enrollment period now. Call our National Message Center and leave your name, and phone number and we will reply as soon as possible.

The Open Enrollment period for Obamacare health insurance in 2016 is November 1, 2015 to
January 31, 2016. Critical deadlines are:
·         November 1, 2015: Open Enrollment begins. Apply for or change your coverage.
·         December 15, 2015: Deadline in order to have coverage that begins on January 1, 2016 (if you apply on December 16 you’re coverage will most likely not start until February 1).
·         December 31, 2015: Coverage ends for 2015 plans. You will be auto-renewed if you don’t change your plan.
·         January 31, 2016: This is the last day you can apply for 2016 coverage before the end of Open Enrollment.

If you miss this window you cannot enroll until the Marketplace re-opens in November 2016 unless you have a special “life event” such as having a baby or losing your job. This is designed to prevent people from taking advantage of the system by enrolling and dropping insurance multiple times a year when they only get sick.

If you don’t enroll in Obamacare in 2016, you’ll be fined 2.5% of your income or $695 per adult, whichever is higher.

Watch the video below but DO NOT call the "National" number shown in the video; call me direct at: 888-241-4031 (Clients receive my personal cellphone number) or click here to go to my personal website. I look forward to potentially working with you.

Insurance Clients save money on everyday purchases...

As an insurance agent who truly cares about the well being of my clients, I'm always looking for ways to help them. It's a free card and you can get a digital version by clicking on the image below.
